Dr. Sparks earned her B.A. in Psychology in 1993 from Loyola Marymount University. In 1999 she earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (with an emphasis in children and families) from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego. Dr. Sparks worked at Rady’s Children’s Chadwick Center for many years before taking a sabbatical to raise her two kids. As a licensed psychologist, Dr. Sparks specializes in individual psychotherapy with adults. Conditions treated include anxiety/panic disorders, depression, grief/loss, relationship issues, stress, self-esteem, adjustment and transition difficulties, and more. She also offers LGBTQ specific services and is passionate about supporting parents and family members of transgender individuals. Dr. Sparks utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), solution-focused therapy, as well as other forms of therapeutic approaches.
